What is Receipt Hog?
Receipt Hog is a free mobile app that rewards you for sharing receipts and information regarding your everyday purchases in the US and Canada. Since 2011, Receipt Hog has been an easy way to keep track of your receipts and make extra money for the shopping you’re already doing. Just snap a photo of your paper receipt, upload a digital receipt, and complete our consumer surveys to get started! The more information you share, the more rewards you can earn.
How does Receipt Hog work and how do I use it?
When you submit images of paper receipts, connect online accounts, and take surveys about your purchases, you’ll earn coins or opportunities to win coins in our fun and easy-to-use app. Build up enough coins, and you can redeem them for Amazon gift cards, Visa gift cards, or cash right to your PayPal account. Once you download the app, you’ll be able to set up your account, take a get-to-know-you survey, and may even earn a welcome bonus just for participating. After that, you’ll be all setup! There are three main ways to earn rewards within the app:
- Submit Paper Receipts: Anytime you complete a trip at a retailer (think grocery stores, department stores, restaurants) simply take a picture of your paper receipt within the app. Be sure to answer “Yes!” every time a cashier asks if you want a copy of your receipt.
- Submit Digital Receipts: Earn rewards without even thinking about it – set up your email connection to share digital receipts with Receipt Hog. Each time you log into the app, Receipt Hog will scan your inbox for receipts and you’ll be able to view and approve them before submitting them. We also have connections with the most popular loyalty programs – linking these accounts with Receipts Hogs makes receipt submission even faster and easier!
- Take In-App Surveys: The more receipts you submit, the more opportunities you’ll have to receive surveys based on your purchases. Your feedback is valuable and we want to hear what you have to say about the brand and product you purchase!
Does Receipt Hog accept all receipts?
While there are a few obvious exceptions (think, fake receipts and duplicates) for the most part, you can consider every shopping trip you take as a chance to earn rewards: from grabbing an energy drink from the gas station to stocking up on cleaning supplies at a club retailer, getting delivery from a chain restaurant – and everything in between! The more receipts you upload, the more opportunities you’ll have for taking in-app surveys, earning weekly bonuses, and moving up levels within the app!
We want to reward you for every shopping trip you take – big, small, online and in-person, but if you want to maximize your rewards, be especially sure to submit receipts from stores that sell groceries, health items, beauty products, cleaning supplies and other household and personal items! Plus – the sooner you upload and submit your receipts, usually the more rewards you’ll earn – but don’t worry, if you ever forget a receipt, you can still earn rewards (usually sweepstakes entries) even months later.
What are the “rewards” I can earn?
Depending on the receipt and timing, you can earn different rewards.
- Coins: You can earn coins for paper and digital receipts, plus in-app surveys. Once you rack up enough coins, you can cash them out for Visa gift cards, Amazon gift cards, and direct payments to your PayPal account.

- Sweepstakes: Each month we host a Sweepstakes drawing, giving you the chance to win even more coins! Earn entries throughout the month and then cross your fingers!

How do I redeem my rewards?
You can redeem the coins you earn for cash back in the form of a PayPal deposit, Visa gift card, or Amazon gift card. Once you’ve earned at least 1,000 coins, you can redeem your rewards and pad your piggy bank!
